Sunday morning notes

I made Chats an apple pie yesterday (her fave). There's something about fall and pies.

There's a podcast interview of me at the Adventures in Scifi Publishing site. I did it last week when I had my cold, so I had a bad case of medicine head. In fact, when we were originally supposed to do the interview Tuesday I was in bed. I heard the phone ring and reacted like Prahka Lasa in All of Me, mumbling brrrrring!, brrrrring! just listening to the phone trill, without any synapses connecting to remind me that the call was, in fact, the interview.

Rectified it Wednesday, but I was still kind of out of it. Shaun was cool, though.

Oh, the first review of Dragon Strike appeared, and it's by (natch!) Harriet. She's somehow picked up on this meme that Strike is the last Age of Fire book. I know when I first outlined the series, it was three little books and one fat ol' doorstop to conclude it with a bang, but the publisher had me break up the final book into multiple volumes. Anyway, somehow the "this is the last one" got into the air on the internet and it keeps being repeated.

I've signed a contract for books five and six and been paid an advance and everything. Cross my heart! I know the series doesn't sell like Paolini or even Novik but it's not a flop.

Frankly, if the (IMO) rubbish that Paolini writes is what it takes to be a best seller, I'm somewhat hoping you never stoop to that level. Your two series far outweigh what most "Best Sellers" have done (including King, Stirling, et al) in my opinion.

Of course, I'm sure the cash involved in being a Best Seller is nothing to scoff at...

I plan to listen to the interview soonish (add it to my podcast cue) and a resounding "YAY!" for more Age of Fire books!!

Personally I'm rather fond of your Age of Fire series ( not that I'm biased towards dragons or anything :p ) I get tired of these books that portray dragons as awesome, powerful, majestic creatures that somehow always become flying beasts of burden for the main character.

Your story has been very refreshing and I've recommended the series to many other dragon fans and they've all loved it too, we're eagerly awaiting the next book :)

Your first Dragon book, Dragon Champion
Mr. Knight,
I don't know if this is the right area to write this note, but I'm not up on the blog procedure and all that rot.
I just wanted to let you know that I really loved your first Dragon book. I've read all the Vampire Earth series that's out so far, and decided to try your other series and Wow it was great. I'm ordering the rest of the Dragon books to read. I could almost visualize the reality of the setting and the characters. The histories of the different "peoples" were very believe-able!
The Vampire Earth is so different than this series that its like to different people writing the books. Keep up the outstanding writing and imagination, it credits you well.

There's no such thing as blog procedure when you're praising my work. Thank you!

Age of Fire series
I will continue to purchase this series from you or whoever sells it. Its a piece of literary awe. I do not know how someone could write from the perspective of a dragon. It is almost mind blowing. I truly cannot wait for any of your books to come out and I wish I didn't have to wait so long in between volumes. Please continue writing, its been a long time since I have found a writer that I truly enjoy. Thanks again, HARDKILLINPETE from the Vampire Earth Forum.

Age of Fire Series
I've read Paolini and Novik as well and to tell the truth I think Age of Fire is better. Mostly because it's actually about the dragons and from their point of view. And I love the world you've created for them and the overall feel of the books. It's honestly one of my favorite series. I love it to death and it deserves much more recognition and praise than it's received.

Poor books...
I have only a few beat-up, bent, tearing, worn-out books. But that means I love them. I only have two book series that are like that, both about dragons. But I was wondering, do you think this series will become a movie? That would be great!
