Do it for Downey

I'm not big on superhero movies -- though I did like the X-Men flicks -- but I think I may have to see Iron Man just because I like watching Robert Downey Jr. work. I'm hearing good things about his performance, and hey, he's the kind of guy who can make by-the-numbers stuff like Air America interesting. Is he part of the Brat Pack? Or did you have to be in a bunch of John Hughes movies to get that label?

So I may hit a matinée this week. Only thing that's holding me back is that Saturday's the SF Film Fest at the Music Box and my tickets are sitting on the shelf above the computer. That's a lot of hours in a theater chair for one week. Maybe I could count it as physical training.

Forget the helmet, I'll need an iron butt by the time Basil's kick-ass Robocop score starts up.

I saw it, yesterday, and I thought it was great! It was very fun, and the special effects were really nifty.

I should teach you how to do Suhaila-style glute squeezes. Any sitdown is a workout when your cheeks are walking!

I laugh because I do that every time I'm in the car, sitting at my desk at work, sitting in the theater...

It keeps my tushie from falling asleep.

Iron Man is worth seeing. It's nothing like other superhero films. I'm probably going to see it again next weekend.

I saw it with the family yesterday. It was really quite good. Downey did do a great job.

If you do decide to see Iron Man then be sure to stay for the scene after the end credits, which is beyond awesome (though it may only seem that way to Marvel geeks, but still).

Yeah, but lots of Marvel geeks and/or comic and movie fans have been waiting for years to see that....

Downey was considered "Brat Pack", but I think he did a better job than most of breaking out of that label.

And yes, although I do *ahem* drool over him, I do also think he's a very talented actor. And he's a super Tony Stark. :)
