Every country boy knows this ditty:
“Hooray, hooray! The first of May! Outdoor lovin' begins today!”
For me, it's a new beginning as during dawn patrol I put in the first serious session of drafting Winter Duty, which will be VE #8. Assuming I don't get myself hit by a bus or some other unexpected tragedy.
We have an ill kitty so I'm running Roo over to the vet this morning. Found some blood in his urine. With a cat as old as he is there's always the worry that this will be the thing that does him in. Except he doesn't look sick or act sick --he's put on weight in the past few months and was just playing "tag" in my lap yesterday, bright-eyed and alert and active-- but then cats hide hurt.
Anyway, trying not to worry.
ETA: He's fine. He's got a urinary tract infection that we caught right away and he'll just be on antibiotics for a bit. In general health he's improved a lot since last fall when we started him on fluids, weight is up, coat better, skin and muscle tone improved. So good news for an elderly cat.
Oh, after extensive discussions with friends and fellow professionals I've decided to replace the Mac with a Dell. You see what you get, Apple Store, when you mess with the Orphans? You see? I was in sales long enough to learn that you don't act dismissive and exasperated with any customer, especially within thirty seconds of them setting foot in your store. They remember, yes they do.
But back to being happy over it being May...
You may wonder why I didn't embed the one from the movie version. Well, they take the most lively, up-tempo song in the whole musical and have Vanessa Redgrave sing it like she's just downed a highball glass full of cough syrup with three Diazepam dissolved in it. Of course, it was released in '67, so the chances of that are probably pretty good that the whole cast was wacked-out on Benzedrine and grappa.
Don't believe me? Okay, here it is:
So. Go frolic. With or without codeine, your choice. Sadly, it's still a little too cold for a good frolic in northern Illinois (we keep getting sleet) but weather permitting get out there and enjoy.

Apple's phone support, on the other hand, was a pleasure to deal with. I'm almost tempted to break my iPod again just to hear that friendly voice of concern once more. Sniff...

[And, for the sake of your sanity...do NOT look up the World of Warcraft version of this song...]

I dunno about the music -- I agree with you about the tempo, but Vanessa has a pretty foxy vibe that I completely missed the last time I saw this (probably at some age under 10) completely absent from the stage version.
No, but I am a sucker for sexy barefoot girls dancing in long skirts, which might have something to do with it.
Glad to hear it's just an infection with Roo, and that he's doing well with the fluid therapy. Cats with kidney issues seem to do rather well with proper management so I wouldn't count him out just yet. ;-)
