I really want to be positive about this movie, but it still scares me. It’s hard for me to get jazzed about a prequel after Lucas burned me.

At least the cast is shaping up well. I just hope that they can find an actor with some gravitas to play Kirk. It really needs to be somebody who will not go in doing a bad Shatner impersonation.

I think the answer to that is to get a stage actor. Shatner in Mind Meld said something that sheds new light on his style, he claimed he saw most of the scripts as sort of classical Greek Drama. Looking back on it (I've been watching the retouched episodes) you can see him playing it with a dash of those two queeny actors from Blackadder who insisted that a hero take a wide stance and roar before delivering his lines. Hopefully they'll go looking for a Kenneth Branaugh type circa Henry V.

I had the same reaction: "NOW I'll see it!"

Like Pegg wasn't already assured of a good living on the con circuit for the rest of his life...

I hope he can work in a cameo for Nick.

Actually, now I'm thinking Nick Frost might have been an even better casting choice!

I can see that. I was thinking a young Harry Mudd but Frost as Scotty would work. Leaving room for Pegg to strap on a Kennedyesque accent and do Kirk!

O. M. G. I have been looking and looking for either a picture or an icon of the mouse-spiders so I could use it here.

Can I...can I use this one? I promise I'll credit and also you may be my new hero. That's one of my favorite lines in the whole series.

I think I stole it from someone else so go ahead.

Not sure what my favorite line is. Either "Anger...Pain...Fear..." etc. or

"Right now I'm in the mood to drown things."

Though pretty much everything Tires says is priceless, too.

Hooray, thanks!

I love the entire scene where Brian comes in covered in paint. Something about the way Pegg delivers that line you quoted kills me.

I also love it when Bilbo is talking to Tim and he mentions his tiny ears. Heh.

I really need to watch that series again. My region-free player is in storage and it's making me cranky.

Yes, I can sit down and watch both series of Spaced and all it does is get me in the mood to watch both series again. Spaced forever!

I know! I am sad that the British shows have such short seasons, but then again, it might make them better quality.

Look! Look! Icon!

I did a whole post on it. Heh.

I really was kinda hoping Paul McGillion would get the part. I didn't have any problem at all hearing Scotty's lines coming out of his mouth.

I don't know Pegg at all, although I know he's got credits. Oh well, not my money they're spending - although I'm sure they're hoping I'll spend some on the movie.

Not at all sure about this entire project - Paramount is still a Klingon plot.

Don't get me started. They refused to recognize the genius that is my concept for a mirror universe series!

New actors
I don't know. I have a hard time drumming up any enthusiasm for the new movie. I have the old series on DVD that I watch all of the time, and those actors fit the characters like gloves. It's kind of hard to find decent replacements in this day and age.

Re: New actors
I'm going to pretend it's an alternate universe and just roll with it.

From the cast, I feel that the film will be worth watching once. I'm just hoping it is handled well enough that I'll want to purchase it on DVD.

This is completely random, but when I was in college, I was watching an old Star Trek episode with one of my roommates and a friend of ours. This was an episode where Spock kisses a blonde woman. And the blonde looked exactly like roommate's mother. So of course, we were all about "Spock kissed [Roommate]'s mother! OMG, maybe Spock is your dad."

Not to be totally OT, I [heart] John Cho.

Someone alerted me to this at Capclave, the con I went to this weekend. I LOVE Simon Pegg. So I guess I'll have to watch now. :)

John Cho? The Chau from Off Centre?
When did Sulu become the wacky sidekick?

Aw, man, I gotta see this.
