Well, a boil is sloughing off an otherwise beautiful country. Castro is stepping down but the Castro family will remain in power (that's how communism works, you see, there needs to be a Maximum Leader). For now. There'll be car-door-slamming in the streets of Miami tonight.

To hear him tell it, the Cuban people loved him so much they supported him (and, for a while, his wicked "revolutionary justice" executioner Che Guevara) through

Eisenhower
Kennedy
Johnson
Nixon (two terms, sorta)
Ford
Carter
Reagan (two terms)
Bush
Clinton (two terms)
Another Bush (two terms, sorta)

I had him pegged to beat Queen Victoria's sixty three-years, which shows you how much I know. Of course Victoria had 20 different Prime Ministers (I think!), but then Great Britain's the godmother of functional democracies.

I listened to a speech of his during the Elian Gonzalez fiasco. Two hours of talking about setting up mortar positions during the Bay of Pigs. How'd you like to hear various versions of that for your entire adult life?

Oh, and apropos of Führerprinzip, I thought this was clever:
